Dodge lists three maximum trailer ratings for 2027, each when properly equipped. The 5.7-liter GT HEMI tows up to 7,200 pounds, and a GT HEMI with Tow 'n Go reaches 8,700 pounds, as do the 6.4-liter R/T 392 and the supercharged SRT Hellcat. Dodge notes that an optional towing package is needed to reach each maximum.

For most models that package is Trailer-tow Group IV, with a Class IV receiver hitch, an integrated trailer brake controller and Blind-spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection. It is included with the Plus and Premium packages on the GT HEMI and R/T 392, and trailer-sway control is standard on every Durango.

Tow 'n Go is offered only on GT HEMI models, and it pairs the 8,700-pound rating with serious hardware: Bilstein adaptive damping, an electronic limited-slip rear axle, Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers and 20x10-inch wheels on 295-section Pirelli tires. It also adds automatic headlamp leveling, which keeps the beams on the road with a loaded hitch.

Every Durango has all-wheel drive and a Tow drive mode, and the R/T 392 and SRT Hellcat add Track and Custom modes to the mix. Hill-start Assist holds the brakes for a moment on a launch ramp, and the 6.4-liter engine in the R/T 392 brings 470 lb-ft of torque to the job.

With all three rows up, the 2027 Durango holds 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row. Fold that row for 43.3 cubic feet, or fold both rear rows for 85.1 cubic feet, enough for hockey bags, a pair of coolers or a load of camping gear.

The cargo floor carries tie-down loops, a storage tray and a 12-volt outlet, and a power liftgate is standard across the lineup. A 24.6-gallon fuel tank helps on a long tow up US-131, and Plus and Premium models add a 115-volt outlet for charging gear.
