Jeep quotes up to 5,000 pounds for a properly equipped four-door Rubicon with the eight-speed automatic, 4.10 axle and 33-inch tires, and the rating applies with either the 2.0-liter turbo or the 3.6-liter V6. Jeep's latest published tow table rates the four-door Sport, Sport S and Sahara at up to 3,500 pounds, as well as four-door builds with the manual transmission or with 35-inch tires and the 4.56 axle.

The Willys 392 and Moab 392 tow up to 3,500 pounds, and two-door Wranglers tow up to 2,000 pounds, all when properly equipped. Jeep also rates the Willys-based Laredo, which comes with 35-inch tires, at up to 3,500 pounds with its available hitch.

The factory hitch comes through the Trailer Tow and Auxiliary Switch Group, which adds a receiver hitch with four- and seven-pin wiring, and the Willys 392 lists the receiver hitch and harness as standard. The Smoky Mountain edition includes a trailer hitch as well.

Every Wrangler has a low-range 4x4 system, which helps when a boat ramp is slick with algae, and the 2.0-liter turbo delivers its 295 lb-ft of torque through the eight-speed automatic. Trailer-sway control and Hill-Start Assist are standard.

Jeep lists 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat of the four-door Wrangler and 72.4 cubic feet with the seat folded, the most recent published figures. For the two-door, Jeep lists up to 31.7 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.

Four-door models carry a 21.5-gallon fuel tank and two-doors a 17.5-gallon tank. The cargo floor has tie-down loops and a 12-volt outlet, and the Sahara, Rubicon and 392 models add a 115-volt outlet in the center console for charging gear on a camping trip.
